Retiree Health Plan Coverage Eligibility

You may retire and purchase eligibility for Retiree Benefits if you meet one of the following requirements:

  1. At least 200 hours per calendar quarter have been reported and paid on your behalf to this Fund or a Prior Plan (See Section 1 for the definition of “Prior Plan”) for at least 32 calendar quarters in the 10 years immediately preceding Retirement; or
  2. You are eligible for and receiving a pension, other than a Partial Pension, from the Mid- Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters Pension Plan (including any predecessor or successor plan) or another pension plan affiliated with the Union and you satisfy the following requirements:
    • If your Retiree Benefits begin before January 1, 2010, at least 200 hours per calendar quarter must have been reported and paid on your behalf to this Fund or a Prior Plan for at least 20 calendar quarters in the 10 years immediately preceding Retirement. If your Retiree Benefits begin on or after January 1, 2010, at least 200 hours per quarter must have been reported and paid on your behalf to this Fund or a Prior Fund for at least 10 calendar quarters in the 5 years immediately preceding Retirement; and
    • You must have been eligible for benefits from this Plan for at least one Benefit Quarter in the 24-month period prior to the effective date of your pension.

  • Out-of-Pocket Maximums - $3,250 / $9,750
  • Individual Deductible - $250 with a max of three per family

Additional Retiree Health Coverage Details

Retirees are responsible for paying a monthly premium toward the cost of their coverage. The required premium is set by the Trustees and will vary based on whether you are Medicare-eligible or not.

Retiree and Widows Health Coverage Pricing:

  • Under age 60 = $690 per month
  • Ages 60-64 = $473 per month
  • Under age 65 receiving Medicare = $145 per month
  • Age 65 and older = $145 per month

In the event a retired eligible member passes away, their surviving spouse is eligible to continue coverage and pay based on the surviving spouse's age.

Your Medicare Advantage Plan and Medicare D Prescription Plan are administered by Aetna Medicare Advantage.
